Emma has a big interest in international cultures and has developed clubs to encourage international mindedness. Emma also has interests in teaching reading, IT and is a qualified swimming instructor. This is Emma’s second year in the our school.

| Shan is from the UK and has been teaching for six years both in England and in an international school in Colombia. Shan has Qualified Teacher Status from the UK and has a background in film, photography and computers. He was the ICT coordinator in his last school and is experienced teaching English to second language learners. Shan can also teach street dance and he is a keen footballer.

| Suzana is from the UK and has been teaching for ten years. She taught primary in the UK for seven years and has joined us from the Gulf English School in Qatar. Before she became a teacher she was an outdoor adventure instructor and she has certificates in health and fitness instruction. Suzana has excellent references and we are sure she will be a valuable asset to our school.

| Lynn is from Florida in the USA and has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with an ESOL qualification. Lynn joins us from Wuxi International Department School where she taught grade 4 and ESL. Lynn coordinated the yearbook and worked on the International Day organsiation committee. This is Lynn’s second year in our school.

Simon comes from New Zealand and has been teaching middle and high school students for six years. Simon has a keen interest in the use of computers in education. Simon teaches humanities and technology to MYP and is the MYP coordinator. Simon has been responsible for organizing the Model United Nations visits for our senior students. This is Simon’s third year in our school.

Coco has been teaching since 2000. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English education and taught PYP and MYP at Nanjing International School before joining Taihu in 2005. She is currently studying for a Masters degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. This is Coco’s fifth year at Taihu.

Parfait is from Burundi but has been in China since 1997. He speaks five languages fluently and has a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree in science. Parfait is our MYP science and maths teacher and has been teaching since 1993. Parfait has been with Taihu since 1999. Parfait is one of our most experienced teacher and we are delighted that he is continuing his long association with the school.

Rachel is the Deputy Head. She has been teaching for thirteen years in the UK and at two international schools in The Bahamas. Born in Zambia, but with British citizenship, Rachel is a third culture kid as she moved around the world as a child and studied in international schools. Rachel was trained in the UK but her background is solidly IB having been taught through the IB system and her father being one of the founders of the PYP. Rachel is an experienced IB PYP trainer and site visitor. We are extremely fortunate to have Rachel on our staff as she develops our curriculum in line with the international standards of the IB and prepares our school for DP authorization.

Su Jeong has a Bachelor’s degree in English Education. Su Jeong taught in several English language schools in Korea before coming to China. She is fluent in Korean, English and Chinese. Su Jeong also worked as a translator for a large exposition in Korea. Sujeong has more than five years of teaching experience and took over as head of department last year.

Lucky is our P1-3 Chinese teacher and also team teaches in P1 and P2 with the western teachers. Lucky is a highly experienced kindergarten teacher and is in her ninth year teaching this age group. Her experience with young children makes her ideal to teach them Chinese through the use of songs, rhymes and games. Lucky speaks Chinese, English and Korean and also runs the ballet club after school for younger students. She is also a talented piano player. Lucky is a very calm, caring person who diligently looks after the children's well-being, making the children seem special and the learning fun.

| Tawnada is a PE specialist and previously taught PE at Harare International School. Tawanda has been teaching PE for eight years and has taught Kindergarten through to grade twelve. Tawanda has been head coach for football, basketball, volleyball and cricket and can teach swimming. Tawanda has already done a fantastic job of developing our football, handball, basketball and badminton teams as well as organizing a successful athletics event last year. This is Tawanda’s second year at our school.

| Jacquie is from Australia and has a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood. She can play piano and has received first aid training. Jacquie was team teaching P3 during the 2009-10 school year with Tiffany Hill and now takes over as the lead teacher in this class. Jacquie comes from a family of teachers and sees it as her lifelong passion.

Naowarat started working in the library as an assistant and was trained by the previous librarian. For the last three years she has been the school librarian and is responsible for cataloguing and organizing the library system. Naowarat is responsible for making the library one of the most popular areas in the school.

Simon is British and has been in education for over twenty years. He spent the first ten years of his career teaching in primary schools in the UK and in middle management positions. Moving to Thailand in 1998 Simon began to teach middle and high school geography, science and drama. He was the Director of Studies for a day and boarding school in Thailand before coming to Taihu in 2006 as Principal. Simon has a passion for drama. In the UK he ran his own touring drama company and won awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Brett is British and was an English language teacher here in Wuxi for three years. He has a Bachelor’s Degree and completed his teacher certification in the UK. This is Brett’s fourth year with Taihu and he is also our PYP coordinator. Brett is interested in Tae Kwon Do and often offers this as a club.

Triphonie joined the school as network manager for the school computer system. She has worked as network manager for three companies in Wuxi before joining Taihu. Triphonie holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science, a Bachelor’s in Earth Sciences and is a qualified teacher. Triphonie is fluent in English, Chinese, French and her native Kirundi. Triphonie can offer French classes as a first or second language on request.

| Anna Marie has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and has been teaching primarily kindergarten classes since for over ten years. Anna Marie is an experienced PYP teacher and has been working in international schools for most of her career.She brings with her two children who are studying in our high school. In her application Anna Marie said “I believe a good early childhood classroom should be well organized and set up to empower children to be independent, to make choices and to take responsibility.”

Wendy is one of our Chinese teachers. She has a Masters degree in teaching Chinese to foreigners and has been teaching Chinese since 2004. She has an excellent knowledge of linguistics, Chinese literature and grammar. Wendy has an interest in calligraphy and singing, two skills she uses in her Chinese lessons. In her class she has used many effective activities such as games, drawing, group work, debating and flash videos. Wendy wants her students to be good inquirers, principled and caring. This is Wendy's first year at Taihu.
