Rationale: As the school grows it is important for the community to know that it has a clear and transparent admissions policy and process which is uniformly applied and that a proper appeals procedure exists in cases of dispute.
Policy: Taihu International School is a secular, foreign owned and run school opened to serve the needs of the growing foreign community in and around Wuxi. According to Chinese law the school is only permitted to accept students who are holders of foreign passports.
The school’s policy is to accept any child with a foreign passport into the appropriate grade for their age and ability as long as the school feels it can meet the educational, social and physical needs of the child. When a class is said to have reached capacity due to the physical size of the building as determined by the principal then further applications for that class will be placed on a waiting list. Priority is given to children of staff at Taihu, siblings of currently enrolled students and to families with children going in to grades with places already available. There is no fee payable for being on the waiting list, however, parents with names on the waiting list must respond to the school’s communications within seventy two hours otherwise their place may be forfeited. In Kindergarten preference is given to three-year-old children and if space becomes available then two and a half year old children may be admitted based on the recommendation of the Kindergarten team leader.
Re-registration: Any family withdrawing their children from the school wishing to reregister within a period of not more than twenty-eight days will be liable to pay the fees for the lapsed period plus the re-registration fee.
